Aion Gladiator PvP Guide

aion-gladiator-pvp'Cry havoc! And let loose the dogs of war' is often quoted from Shakespeare, and can be the battle cry of many a Gladiator. Having good defence with the ability to wear plate armour, and great dps when equipped with a greatsword or polearm, the Gladiators are often found in the front-lines, wrecking chaos amongst enemy ranks.

Well, that's the theory, and if your Gladiator is somewhat lacking in pvp, here are some tips that should help you out in your pvp encounters.

Amour

Like all melee classes in Aion, the Gladiator is heavily gear dependent. The majority of Gladiators offensiveness in battle is directly related to quality of equipment they are wearing or wielding.

So have a good source of Kinah to keep your equipment up to spec.

Go for plate armour always, despite having lower magic resist than chain, the extra physical defence is more beneficial. Also the 40% reduction in physical defence when flying, means that plate really is required for Abyss PvP.

Use Two-Handers for Burst Damage

Forget about using a sword and shield, or dual swords in pvp. The sword does not do enough burst dps damage, to justify the increase in defence when wearing a shield.

PvP is all about burst damage. Long drawn out battles rarely occur, therefore the critical hit advantage of two-handers really comes into play. The slow attack speed from these is not a factor, since you will be doing most your damage from skill based attacks and subsequent combos.

Equip Bows

Bows may not seem useful for a close-combat class, but with the amount of crowd control spells going on in pvp, having a ranged attack available is useful. Especially against players trying to run away from you.

Useful Stigmas

A good stigma for pvp are Increased Stamina. Having extra hp is always good in battles, as your healer may be busy or absent. Next is Ankle Snare, for stopping those ranged attacker from kiting you. The same is true for Lockdown. The rest of the stigma's can be the damage dealing one of your choice and level.

Knockbacks

Gladiators perform a knockback on their opponents whenever they critically hit. This is a form of crowd control, and crowd control wins battles.

Pole arms have the highest critical rate, but you should increase you crit rate as much as possible by adding mana stones with critical rates to your equipment.

The Aion Gladiator is a great class for those you who like their fights to be up close and personal. With the right of choice equipment, stimga and skills, the Gladiators onslaught will be difficult to withstand.
